Uniform Resource Locators

— Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) are used to specify location of web pages.

URL is a unique identifier for a webpage, known as the website address.

IP Address of the website to resource locations.

URLs are text addresses used to access websites

e.g. https://www.instagram.com.my/meowmeowmeow/reels/

World Wide Web

Domain Name. (WWW)

Simply the web, is a collection of websites and web pages that are accessed using the internet.

Consists of interconnected documents and multimedia files stored on web servers.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol

Network Protocol. (HTTP)

Protocols, rules governing communication between devices on network for website viewing.

• Data packets are sent around the world the internet using different protocols or rules.
• The protocol that web pages use for data transfer is called hypertext because they contain personal data to receive and send.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)

Works same way as HTTP but with added layer of security.

Protects sensitive information such as passwords, personal data, et al.

• Ensures a secure connection is made between the devices engaging in transfer of data.
• The data packets sare encrypted before they are transmitted across the network and are decrypted only when they reach their intended destination
